As an Academic and Researcher, my goal is to use interdisciplinary approaches for in-depth understanding of the contribution of sport to humans psychobiosocial growth.

What is the definition of human aquaticity? Which are the characteristics and subtypes of Aquaticity?
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27210836/
“Aquaticity is the capacity of a terrestrial mammalian organism to function and habitualise in the aquatic environment. The level of aquaticity depends on mental and physical characteristics and can be improved by frequent exposure to the water element". The ideal state of aquaticity is achieved through the activation of the diving reflex, when the human body is totally immersed in water.”

Can we screen the Aquaticity level in humans? What is the Aquaticity Test?
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27634070/
Findings showed that, the Aquaticity Test can be applied in education, in water sports clubs, in rehabilitation and aquaphobia, in military training and in hospitality for drowning prevention programs. The aquaticity score allows us to detect individuals who are in high risk in the water (low aquaticity score ≤23.7 AU ) or individuals that possess advance aquatic abilities (high aquaticity score ≥43.3 AU).

An enjoyable school-based swimming training programme improves students' aquaticity
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31254355/
“A short-term swimming program, incorporated into the physical education course, is an enjoyable exercise modality that may be used for the improvement of children's aquaticity.”

Developing the aquaticity level in healthy adolescents.
A randomized control study
“The Aquaticity development program improves aquatic efficiency not only on the surface (in partial immersion) but also underwater (in total immersion), which is essential for an individual when considering multiple variables simultaneously during a distressed situation in the water.”

Developing a cognitive-perceptual ability test in the water
“Studying facets of intelligence in the water lies on a holistic approach towards humans’ potential in the aquatic environment in order to increase safety, performance and well-being. Weaknesses in cognition and perception in the water impact critical thinking, reasoning and motor ability, which is crucial for a distressed swimmer/diver to handle an emergency. Experts in education, in water sports clubs, in rehabilitation, in lifeguard training and military can use the ACPAT to quickly identify participants in high risk and also use this tool as a progress report for parents and other stakeholders.”

Chronicle Of Event Postponement & Reorganization, Book: Events, Crisis Management And Recovery: Impacts And Strategies Edited by Vassilios Ziakas, Vladimir Antchak & Donald Getz. Publishers: Goodfellow
The covid-19 health crisis has put at risk most events around the globe. In the event industry, strict social distancing and restrictions to minimize the spread of coronavirus, have set new norms in socializing and celebrating. Concerns about safety in gatherings have led to cancelling or reshaping events. The Greek government imposed consecutive lockdowns that paralyzed the already dismal social and business environment from a 10-year economic depression. Local or national lockdowns limit the range of managerial responses in event planning and make it more difficult for any level of crisis preparedness to be achieved. Thus, major uncertainties have arisen about the future and survival of events in Greece. How are event organizers responding to the crisis and adapt to the new conditions? What decision-making processes do they employ to deal with the consequences of the crisis? The purpose of this chapter is to throw light on the empirical decision-making of event managers to re-organize the “National Ballet Competition” of Greece as a virtual event. This experience is discussed alongside pertinent literature to highlight major issues and responses.

Being an athlete in various sports - both individual and team sports - has taught me the value of personal motivation to achieve a certain goal, but also the value of cooperation, team spirit and respect for the opponents and the rules.
